1. ARCHERY..........10 and - 20 Yards

Cross Bows allowed only if the shooter has a permit issued by Pennsylvania State Game Commission.

10 Minute time limit

2. HAND GUN .......10 Rounds - 25 Yards

Handgun must be legal to use for hunting large game in Pennsylvania.

5 Minute time limit

3. FLINT LOCK .....5 Rounds

15 Minute time limit

4. RIFLE ..........10 Rounds - 100 Yards

5. TRAP ...........25 BIRDS

NRA HUNTERS Field course with modifications.

Trap or field grade gun must be equipped with manual safety. (field loads- maximum 3-1/2 drams equivalent — 1-1/4 oz. of shot maximum.) 12 gauge maximum.

Birds thrown at pullers discretion 0 to 5 seconds, from 12-1/2 yards. Muzzle of gun down range with butt at or below belt level.

All shots on target must have a clear notch in line to receive the higher score. if line shows complete shooter keeps lower score.

 

Notes: 

1.      All target shooting to be from the free hand standing position.

2.      All shooters to observe the range rules of the hosting club.

3.      All equipment to be legal by Pennsylvania state game commission rules and regulations set forth for the standard hunting seasons for the current year.

 


BASIC RULES FOR THE PENTATHLON

1.      Each team to consist of 5 men/women plus two alternates.

2.      If regular becomes ill during event.  The alternate must shoot all events even though some might have been completed by the regular who became ill.

3.      Alternate shoots all events* if regular does not arrive on time.

4.      No added weights to be used in any event other than (1) bow stabilizer in archery.

5.      If the shooter's original arrow hits within the scoring ring and then bounces off the target or hits within the scoring ring and penetrates so deeply as to be unscorable through no fault of the shooter — the shooter must shoot another arrow.

6.      All guns to be held down range. Eye and ear protection must be worn.

7.      No limit on number of teams from each club except that a fee is required for each team entered.

8.      Starting time of each days event will be 9:00 A.M. on given day with Registration between 8:00 A.M. and 10:00 A.M.

9.      During trap events all team members must be present. The standard trap shooting operation will be used for the event.

10.  Scorekeepers may be an actual participant, an alternate, or a member of the club for which he is representing.

11.  There will be scoring judges for the final event. .

12.  Each team captain resolves all disputes within his team for all events.

13.  We should have a jury consisting of an off number of persons to make a final

14.  decision on any questionable matter.

a.       Procedure to be used — put all team captains names in a container, pull three or five names forming a jury needed. If captain of the protesting teams name is pulled another is to be pulled.

15.  All targets to be turned into Official Scorekeeper and the Statistician with the exception of Archery targets — Archery line judge shall" present individual scores in writing to the statistician.^

16.  If Flintlock shooter borrows a-gun to shoot* the owner will be permitted -to load the rifle for the designated shooter BUT NO COACHING.

17.  Identification badges will be provided for each team member participating.

18.  All team participants must be affiliated with an organized sportsmen club of Pennsylvania or surrounding areas (must be able to travel for events.

 


AWARDS

Final awards to be furnished by the Pentathlon awards committee. Trophies

to the three highest scoring teams and individual for each member participating.

The top three shooters will also receive an award.

Fourth place and down teams to receive a plaque for their club. An award to be

given in each event at the final pentathlon only.

Any participant shooting a perfect score in any event will also receive an award. The award committee is to omit/eliminate the lesser award on double winners; such as high team shooter vs. high overall shooter.

We should        have a traveling trophy for the first place winning club. If the

club wins          the trophy three times, the trophy is theirs to keep; then a new

trophy is           purchased.':

FUNDING

Individual meets to be covered by participating clubs. Final meet to be covered by entrance fee per team. This fee to be paid prior to the semi-final/ practice Pentathlon of each participating year. Each individual on the team must pay an additional fee to cover the cost of birds, targets, etc.

GENERAL INFORMATION

1. Any competing winning team (of a designated county) must comply to the rules and regulations set forth by the Pentathlon Committee.

 

2. Inter-county competition is tabled for the present. If in the future this can be picked up - we will do so. At the present time all competition is being held in the Lehigh Valley Area.

3. Children shooting on a team must follow these designated ruled and must show Certificateof Completion of the Pa. Game Commission Hunter's Education Course:

Age 12 and 13 - -ust be with a legal guardian or parent when

shooting. Age 14 and 15 - must be with an adult.

4. EYE AND EAR PROTECTION MUST BE WORN IN ALL EVENTS EXCEPT ARCHERY.

5. RULES TO BE FOLLOWED ON THE GROUNDS OF ANY HOSTING CLUB:

a. Any participant found to be intoxicated will be eliminated

from the team. No alternate will be allowed to fill in under

this situation, b. All participants and guests will follow the hosting clubs

rules and regulation to full extent..
